What Is a Performance Test?
A performance Test is a 10 -15 minute graded exercise test that will measure your current performance. During the test we will collect data on your oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide exhalation, intensity, power and heart rate. After your test the technician will provide a short consultation to answer your questions, ensure you fully understand your results, analyze the results for you and provide general direction to improve your training.
Why Test?
There is a lot of science and training methodologies available that work, provided you know where you are starting from. For instance if you knew what intensity is your highest point of aerobic efficency and exercised at this intensity for just 4 to 6 weeks, you could achieve a 20 - 40% improvement in aerobic performance.
Impossible you say? Not at all. The science of training has advanced enough to know what should be done in a given circumstance to improve performance. The question is, what is your given circumstance?
What intensity is aerobic, what intensity is anaerobic, is my weakness strength, endurance, power, aerobic conditioning or some combination of these factors?
A Performance test gives you a full metabolic profile and can answer these questions. A Performance Test is simply a snap shot of where your performance is today.
If you know where you are and where you want to go, it is easy to apply the right training science and draw up a plan to achieve your goals
If you don’t know where you are then, by definition, you are lost and guessing at your direction.
Whether you are self coached or being coached, you can find out exactly where you are today and achieve faster, bigger performance gains from your training with the knowledge gained from Performance Testing.
